The Attorney General issued her report on the 26th of May 2022 stating, “Disclosure remains one of the most important and complex issues in the criminal justice system, and it is a priority for this Government to encourage improvements in disclosure practice in order to ensure the disclosure regime operates effectively, fairly and justly.”

The Survivors Trust PTT is a survivor-focussed form of training ensuring that operational practices are conducted ethically and professionally ensuring first disclosures are recorded in line with our legal obligations. In addition, requests for information-sharing made by police, CPS and courts are processed accurately and professionally challenged when necessary.

Our one-day workshop is suitable for practitioners who come into contact with victims-survivors or witnesses to allegations of rape or sexual abuse.

This training develops the learner’s knowledge and understanding of pre-trial processes and how investigations are conducted. Furthermore, it will improve the learner’s confidence and ability to work ethically and safely with their clients from the point they make a report to the police right throughout the criminal justice process until post-trial.

What you will learn?

  • The law and criminal justice processes
  • How to safely provide therapy or emotional support to vulnerable and intimidated witnesses
  • How to uphold the legal standards
  • How to handle information-sharing requests and record keeping
  • How to appear as a witness and write reports
